"Bread" depicts the Jewish ceremony of Bi'ur Chametz, the symbolic act of burning bread that recalls the memory of slavery in Egypt and marks the beginning of the Passover holiday. As one of five vignettes belonging to an experimental documentary (Before After, 2011) about the predominantly Jewish and Latino neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Bread is an essayistic portrait of the aforementioned ritual as it transpires throughout the course of a day. Produced in cooperation with the UnionDocs Collaborative.
